Lucy Kioa
Lucy enjoys working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with varying psychological needs. Lucy works in a warm and patient manner. Currently, Lucy has a specialises in working with clients who have experienced sexual trauma. She provides therapy and Supported Assessments for clients under ACC’s Sensitive Claims contract, as well as with clients who face a range of other difficulties. She provides personalised psychological therapy derived from a broad range of cognitive behavioural therapy modalities (e.g. CBT or ACT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). This means that she is able to tailor her approach to suit each client she works with.
Lucy has experience working in private and public healthcare and criminal justice settings. She has also worked in the clinical research field by undertaking assessments and monitoring children who were engaged in treatment for ADHD, as part of the University of Canterbury’s Te Puna Toiora (the Mental Health and Nutrition Research group). She has extensive experience in undertaking comprehensive clinical assessments and providing therapy on an individual and group basis. Her work has involved providing consultation to a variety of other professional groups, developing and providing training, and supervising clinical psychology students, registered intern psychologists, and other professionals.
Lucy was raised on the West Coast of New Zealand, where she enjoys visiting in her spare time. She loves to learn about other cultures and relishes in connecting with others in a meaningful way. Currently, Lucy is passionate about hiking, squash and her dog Pablo.
Lucy works Wednesday to Friday. She is not currently accepting new referrals.
