Nick Hughes
Nick is a registered psychologist with over 17 years of clinical experience. He has previously worked for specialist intellectual disability health services and a community provider of group and individual treatment for people who have engaged in harmful or concerning sexual behaviour. Currently, Nick works for the Department of Corrections where he has gained expertise in undertaking risk assessments of men who have engaged in sexually abusive behaviour, alongside providing psychological treatment for privately and ACC funded clients.
Nick provides therapy primarily from a cognitive behavioural approach. He has a particular interest in working with men who are concerned about aspects of their behaviour including those who may be having difficulty managing or are concerned about their anger or sexual thoughts and impulses.
Nick has experience in providing comprehensive psychological assessments to clarify diagnostic issues such as ADHD and autistic spectrum in adults. He also has an interest in working with people who are intellectually disabled as well as people on the autistic spectrum.
